After more than 30 years performing in New York City jazz clubs and three years in Nashville’s music scene, Joel Frahm has joined the music faculty at Texas State University. He has honed his bold, inventive tenor saxophone sound alongside artists such as Betty Carter, Kenny Barron, Freddy Cole, Kurt Elling, Jane Monheit, Brad Mehldau, and many others. Frahm has appeared on more than 100 recordings and performed at major jazz festivals across the U.S., Europe, Israel, Canada, and South America. An experienced educator, he has taught at numerous universities and international workshops. A Racine native, he earned his bachelor’s degree from the Manhattan School of Music in 1992.
