“…[a] polyphonic pip.” - Village Voice
“Rarely in the history of jazz family bands have siblings so successfully created a unified group sound with as distinctive an identity as the Israel-born Cohens.” - Downbeat
Siblings Yuval, Anat and Avishai Cohen have been playing together since childhood. Now, as seasoned musicians and band-leaders, they pair the joy of family music-making with musicianship of the highest level. They complete each other’s phrases, seamlessly intertwining solo and accompaniment in an exciting original program. Featuring Aaron Goldberg, Eric Harland and Omer Avital.

Press
“Anat has emerged as one of the best clarinet players in jazz, with a warm and singing tone … Avishai can play bebop and ballad lines and outer-limits trumpet sounds with tireless fluency … Yuval has a full and relaxed sound on the soprano … it's a surprisingly good band record too.”
— Ben Ratliff, The New York Times
“full of lyrical melancholy, streaked with some slinky Latin tinge … a kinetic interplay that seems both intuitive and competitive … Avishai's "Lies and Gossip" builds to a wailing climax, while Yuval's "Elegy for Eliku" is a silken ballad and Anat's "Tfila (Prayer)" combines horn immediacy with a curious supper-club bounce … the Maserati-like purr of pianist Aaron Goldberg, bassist Omer Avital, and drummer Eric Harland. This rhythm section generates waves of refreshing air.”
— Karl Stark, Philadelphia Inquirer
“A blue-chip import from Israel … the Cohens-three gifted Tel Aviv-born siblings-gladden the American jazz scene with this delightful, tightly-knit, celebratory collaboration … "Braid" is the perfect title for their repertoire rooted in American jazz spiked with Middle Eastern seasonings … the sibling stitchers of brightly textured voicings tailor a forever-in-fashion musical coat of many colors”
— Owen McNally, Hartford Courant
“it's a terrific set of straight-ahead blowing that demonstrates the interweaving of three strands that the title connotes”
— Boston Globe
“The horn players' intimate familiarity with one another pushes the symbiosis up a notch … The Cohens weave lines around one another and wind up in places where they interlock perfectly … creating something extra special. It would make their parents proud.”
— Steve Greenlee, JazzTimes
